Anime Boston Posters

I’ve made some relatively quick (I spent all day on them) posters, most are using existing drawings, some stuff is new drawings.

There are five posters to be hung on the walls of the booth we have at Anime Boston and one sign inviting people to take a CD. Although I’m not sure if we’ll need the sign since there at 17,000 attendees and only 400 CDs. We will see how these CDs go and if they all disappear pretty quickly, then next time we’ll have to get our own printed instead of going to Canonical’s ship-it service. But we do have 3,000 manga and the 1,000 flyers we have available and 100 special aluminium case badges.

I think it’s going to be a really great event.

I can still change these tag lines, so your thoughts and ideas are welcome in comments below.

I prefer “free your pc” over “liberate your pc”, as it has an alliteration, is quicker and smoother to say and less morally lofty than the latter word. I’d also say that “Get your own way” confuses the two given English idioms “Go your own way” and “Get it your way”; either one of those is preferable. That’s this lit. grad student’s humble opinion.

Very nice posters indeed. Good work and much success at the expo!

  2. I second everything augias said above and (in the humble opinion of this copywriter) would recommend the two small edits:

#4: “Share it with your friends”
#5: “For a more peaceful computer” This works in two ways: the “for….” part uses the straightforward “for ____, do ____” construct in advertising (what you’re suggesting the individual “do” is implied by the Ubuntu header and girl graphic), and it also kind of alludes to the well-known phrase “to form a more perfect union…”

I would pass on printing either Get Your Own Way or Peaceful Computer, the artwork looks a little off I’m afraid.

I actually like the black and white the best. How can I get a larger image file of this?

You ask me _very_ nicely indeed, pandering to my ego and letting me know just how awesome my designs are. Perhaps in an email :-P

The thing about “Your Own Way” is that the image you see wasn’t finished when I made that export. But otherwise, duely noted and most of the differences come from the difference in artists and techniques which I would like to keep.

“Get it your way” sounds creepy to me…I like “Your computer Your way”…plus many years ago Burger King (American Fast food chain) had a “Get it your way” jingle.
