Ubunchu! The Ubuntu Manga is now in English
Download all Chapters of Ubunchu here: http://www.ubuntu.net/.
A few weeks ago I mention a few artworks which I had found on my travels of the internet.
One of those things was Ubunchu, a Japanese Manga comic of 3 school students in a system-admin club who are getting into Ubuntu.
Thanks to the author Hiroshi Seo, two ubuntu-jp LoCo members (Fumihito Yoshida and Hajime Mizuno) and myself. We got the rights to translate the comic into English, got the script translated and re-edited each image page, replacing the Japanese with English.
Update: Chapter 02 is here.
Update: Chapter 03 is here.
* Editing Note: I was helped by inkscape and I bound this pdf by using the same book making script I’ve posted to before. I used the original psd files, converted them into xcfs, followed by editing it for Left to Right and patching up the Japanese action word spaces.
Update: Thanks to Craig Huffstetler and C-quel for helping out with lots of editing points. Grammar and Spellings corrected and Rev 08 uploaded.

Just as an FYI, there’s a Simplified Chinese version linked up in Seotch-san’s blog. Not sure if it’s the same one you had mentioned weeks ago.
Very Funny

makes me want to ditch my XP install, no wait it’s XP that makes me what to do that but manga helps
Ubunchu has died? Episode 3, please!!!
Ubunchu Episode 03 was released today.
Actually chapter 3 just came out today.
I couldn’t stand this crap, sorry to say. It’s mostly showing the same old reasons why the system would be good or bad, completely forgetting that there’s plenty of other distros that can do the same, no problem. Linux as a whole is evolving like that, all thanks to eachother.
But the bigger point why I didn’t like it is because the characters were bland and were only rambling about how the system’s good or bad. No character definition other than the very short initial one, and their talking almost make this look like an Ubuntu fanboy’s wet dream / just another boring Windows-vs-Linux discussion nobody wants to hear.
Nice art, but for me, the rest simply doesn’t do good enough to make it enjoyable.
(Disclaimers: I’ve been an Xubuntu user myself for about 2 years now. I’ve also only read the first chapter, but that one’s the most important as it defines the entire work.)

Admittedly, there is a lot of introductory discussion about Ubuntu and Linux. My assumption is that it’s just that: an introduction. Geeks are expected to know about it, but I believe the target audience includes non-geeks, who know little other than Windows, and *need* this introduction in order to get any further into the story.
So I’m hoping that after a couple introductory chapters, the manga will get more into character development and plot. The title does say “Ubuntu romantic school comedy”. There’s already been some comedy, but no romance so I think that will eventually pop up
In Japan it’s up to chapter 06, in English we only have up to chapter 03 (currently as of writing in peer review)
hello my friend
