Basically in 0.46 you can only copy and paste between files that have been opened in the same Inkscape instance. If you open a second file directly from the desktop then copy and paste won&#039;t work between the two instances. Use File=&gt;Open within the first Inkscape instance instead, then C&amp;P will work.

This issue is fixed in the development version, so when 0.47 is eventually released and hits the repos the problem should go away.</description>
